The Story Behind the Swiss PPIE Network Initiative

The Swiss PPIE Network initiative began to take shape on November 16, 2024, during the first Swiss Symposium on Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) in Healthcare, held in Bern. While healthcare institutions were instrumental in organizing the first Symposium. These were the contributing healthcare institutions:

It was after the event that Christine, Tourane, and Jennifer decided to initiate the process of founding the Swiss PPIE Network as a formal association. Cristiana joined shortly afterward, bringing additional expertise and support to the effort.

To expand their efforts and invite more participants from the Network, the team organized a collaborative workshop with UMA Collective. The workshop brought together participants with diverse backgrounds from different stakeholder groups, enriching the initiative with a wide range of perspectives. Following the workshop, those who expressed interest in becoming involved helped form a new team, which now includes twelve founding initiators.

As the initiative moved forward, the group was split into four smaller teams, each focusing on different aspects of founding the association and planning the second Symposium. On November 22nd, some of the founding initiators will apply for seats on the executive board, while others will either apply for the advisory board or join the association as members. These members will continue to collaborate in ad-hoc working groups to advance the mission of the initiative.
