Workshops for the Development of a PPIE Network in Switzerland

Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) in Switzerland

PPIE is becoming increasingly important in Switzerland, with many individuals and organizations advocating for greater involvement of patients and the public. However, there has been no coordinated network with a clear identity, structure and focus to unite these efforts — until now.

Initiative Goals

After the first Symposium, Christine, Tourane, and Jennifer decided to initiate the process of founding the Swiss PPIE Network as a formal association. Cristiana joined shortly afterward, bringing additional expertise and support to the effort.

Together, we set out to create a Swiss PPIE network — a central platform designed to foster collaboration, unite efforts and systematically promote patient-centered care. To expand our efforts and involve more participants, we organized a collaborative workshop with UMA Collective, bringing together patient partners, researchers and healthcare professionals to lay a solid foundation for the emerging network. During these workshops, participants identified their areas of expertise, discussed how they can contribute as equal partners and developed shared values and initial ideas for the network’s offerings.

Long-Term Goals

The future network, built by us as the founding initiators, will serve as the central hub for PPIE in Switzerland. Its mission is clear: to amplify patient expertise, foster high-quality and consistent engagement and work collaboratively toward improving healthcare that is more responsive to patient needs.
